    Queen of Hearts

    Character Poem

    I am a wild horse
    In a cemented pasture
    Surrounded by fake light.
    This place is cursed
    With glamorous cadavers,
    I have caught this plague
    Years ago,
I am now in its final stage.
I have traded in my grass stained overalls
    For lipstick
    The color of blood,
    And the finest satin clothes.

    I would gladly
    Trade in my lipstick
    For REAL blood,
    This satin carcass
    Needs to be filled…

I can feel my heart beat tonight.
    Perhaps it’s the full moon
    Or maybe the red wine.
    Whatever the reason
    I have not felt alive
Since I was in the light
    Of natural green.
Now I am the queen of hearts
Married to the King of greed
In a city of hearts pumped dry.
But maybe I could save at least one heart
    From its skeleton grave.
    Then I could shelter it
    From this deadly city.

I predict a red flush tonight
    When the king arrives…
